Spunky and Stylish

Each time I photograph someone for my Street Style, they are my new favourite. So really, everyone has been my favourite thus far, and why not, right?

My newest post is no different, and I adore this lovely lady...check out Mallory and her amazing vintage fur!

Mallory Lynn Minerson is a girl who possesses both spunk and style to spare. Her personal style is a true reflection of who she is: bold, fun, interesting, and oh so refreshing. The style scene in Calgary is really starting to pop, and it’s people like Minerson who are pushing the boundaries and making that happen. 

As both a theatre artist and singer, Minerson is  not afraid to make her point of view known. She does things her way when it comes to fashion and even though some of her sartorial decisions don’t always follow convention, Minerson makes them work.  The bold print and colours of the dress Minerson was sporting the day I shot her were nothing short of phenomenal and her knack for throwing in lovely accessories that range from feathers to bird earrings to an oversized watch is uncanny. Minerson is a fashion-y breath of fresh air and it’s people like her who make me excited to be documenting the street style happening in Calgary right now.

Menswear

When it comes to men’s fashion, I’m a big fan of clean, classic and well-put-together looks. I like ‘em strong and with a point of view. Scott Kingsmith is all of these things and more. By incorporating small bits of colour, Kingsmith makes a pair of classic black shoes and trousers stand out in the crowd.

I spotted Kingsmith at the newly renovated Le Chateau in the CORE, where he was working. His ensemble that day was very true to the brand’s esthetic: chic and fun. I love how Kingsmith incorporated multiple patterns within his look, and polished it all off with a skinny black tie, fabulous stand-out frames and a funky haircut. Most boys aren’t into the details, but Kingsmith goes the extra mile when getting dressed.

Avenue Magazine, January 2012

I'm absolutely thrilled...I've just experienced the coolest and most exciting way to start a year, by being on the cover of Avenue Magazine!

Being on the cover of a glossy magazine has been a dream for me my entire life, and I can't believe that it's actually happening! I wrote about the entire experience in my January Downtown Calgary column, so here is the link...

2011 In Review

I've had the most amazing year photographing stylish strangers...there have been so many incredible outfits, styles and personalities!
