Designer Profile: Adejoke and her àlalá…
àlalá is a noun in the native Yorùbá language of Nigeria; àlalá is defined as a [dreamer]. And a dreamer she is.


After studying Theatre Arts for Costume at RedDear College, and furthering her education at the Banff Centre for Performing Arts, and then Ryerson Universityin Torontowhere she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Design, Adejoke began her fashion line, àlalá, two years ago.
Adejoke is mainly inspired by the interesting and complex people in her life, who she feels all have engaging stories to tell. She hopes and dreams to travel the world to work at various fashion houses, while expanding on her existing fashion line.“I love creating unique pieces that people would love to wear.”

Makeup Artist Profile: Kate Barutowicz

Kate Barutowicz has been working as a professional make-up artist for the past ten years, since graduating from the Blanche Macdonald Make-up Artistry program. She has contributed her talent to B.C. Fashion Week, the Juno Awards, and freelance work for weddings, magazines, and for a number of photographers in Vancouver and Calgary. She was both an artist and part of the management team at MAC cosmetics for over seven years, and has worked with various make-up companies such as Benefit, Couture Colour, and Bobbi Brown. Kate has also worked as a make-up artistry teacher, where she implemented and wrote the course curriculum, facilitated seminars and one on one lessons. Kate has been trained and is available for Bridal, TV/Film, Theatre, Editorial, Special Effects, Lessons, Runway, and Special Occasions/Events.
